The award categories broadly are:

  • Living Places: Homes
  • Living Places: Hospitality
  • Living Places: Work
  • Living Places: Healthcare
  • Living Places: Learning Institutions

  • Living Places: Heritage and Conservation
  • Living Places: Public spaces/ Buildings
  • Special Categories:

Technology: This may entail any innovation in technology related to software, construction practices etc.

Start-up of the year: An architectural firm that has been established and registered in or after December, 2012.

  • All-Asia Category (can be any building typology)

In case you want to submit entries that do not fit in any of the mentioned categories, please write to us at smartgreenawards@gmail.com regarding your entry. (details such as project name, short brief, location can be mailed)

For categories other than “special categories”, the submission requirements are as follows:

(All requirements marked with a * are compulsory.)

  • Conceptual level sketches/ ideas
  • *Architectural drawings (all drawings that best explain the project). For e.g.:
      •  Site plan
      • Floor plans
      • Sections
      • Elevations
      • Materials and other details
      • 3-D views
      • Any other drawings
  • *Photographic documentation
  • Post occupancy documentation

MANDATORY

  • All drawings that best explain the project. For eg:

    • Floor plans
    • Sections
    • Elevations
    • Materials and other details
    • 3-D views
    • Any other drawings
  • Photographic documentation

OPTIONAL

  • Conceptual Drawings and sketches
  • Post-occupancy documentation

Post-occupancy documentation can be in the form of :

  • Photographs
  • Testimonials from users
  • Testimonials from clients
  • How the smart green quotient of the designed space has transformed the neighbourhood etc.
  • An online nomination form needs to be filled, which will be your registration into the competition.
  • Apart from the nomination form, a maximum of 4 A3 sheets in high resolution pdf or ppt format is to be submitted for categories 1-8, 10. These need to be emailed to awards@smartgreen.in
  • For Category 9: Special categories:
    • “Smart Green Special Category Award: Start-up of the year” you may submit a maximum of 5 A3 sheets
    • “Smart Green Special Category Award: Technology & Innovation” you may submit a maximum of 3 A3 or 5 A4 sheets.
  • Sheets must contain name of project and location.
  • DO NOT MENTION NAMES of participants/ firms on the sheets. Mentioning of names of the individual or the firm on the submission sheets will lead to disqualification.
  • The received entries will be coded for anonymity for the jury by the organisers.
  • The content must be clearly titled with sheet numbers mentioned. The ppt/ pdf file should be titled – ‘name of architect/project name/ location/ category name’.
  • Please mark North Direction wherever applicable to show orientation of drawings

The evaluation criteria broadly shall be:

  • The Design Concept
  • Sustainability
    • Environmental
    • Economic
    • Social
  • Novelty/ Innovation
  • Building materials
  • Efficiency of design
  • Multi-Comfort (Acoustic, Thermal, Solar, Indoor Air Quality, Safety)

Please note that these are just broad heads under which evaluation may or may not occur and that the jury will have the final word.

Smart Green Special Category Award: Start-up of the year

  • An architectural or a design firm that has been established and registered in or after December, 2012 is eligible to participate.
  • The start-up needs to showcase the smart and green work that they have done since their inception.
  • Built and Un-built projects can be showcased
  • A portfolio needs to be submitted with a maximum of 5 A3 sheets in a pdf/ppt format.
  • The portfolio needs to contain at least 1 completed project with photographs.

Smart Green Special Category Award: Technology & Innovation

  • Any technology that has impacted or will impact the world of design and architecture is welcome.
  • The technology should have been innovated in or after December, 2012.
  • The technology can be of any nature – material, construction techniques, site related, software related etc.
  • Apart from the nomination form, the submission should include any drawings, 3D models, and/or photographs of the mentioned technological innovation. A maximum of 3 A3 sheets or 5 A4 sheets in .pdf/.ppt format needs to be submitted.
  • This category encourages entries from across the continent (excluding India).
  • In the All-Asia category, organizations / individuals with a registered address and who conduct business / have operations in Asia, excluding India, are allowed to participate. They may submit designs that are either executed in Asia or outside Asia.
  • The entries may fall under any one of the categories: Homes, Hospitality, Work, Healthcare,  Learning Institutions, Commercial/Retail, Heritage& Conservation, Public Buildings/Spaces
  • The project should have been completed in or after December, 2012.
