Santhanam obtained his B.Tech in Civil Engineering (1978) from Indian Institute of Technology, Madras and
Post-Graduation in Management (1980) from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, with focus on
Operations and General Management.
Over the last decade and a half, as Founder Managing Director of Saint-Gobain Glass India, Santhanam was
instrumental in the Groupís investment of over US $ 700m to create a Pan India manufacturing footprint across
Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Rajasthan starting with World Glass Complex at Sriperumbudur followed by acquisition of modern Float Glass plant near Bharuch in Gujarat and new Glass Complex in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan. He is also in-charge of manufacturing units at Egypt and Malaysia. The Company has achieved Quality, Technical and Market leadership position in India and has won numerous Regional and National Awards in Innovation, Brand Building, EHS, Water Management, HR Excellence etc.
Santhanam is an elected Member of the National Council of CII since 2006. Santhanam is active in advocating
diversity in work force and has been a champion of ìIndian Women Networkî (IWN) as part of the diversity agenda of CII.
