Dr. Prabhat S. Rahangdale is currently servicing Maharashtra Fire Services as its Director. He’s Chief Fire Officer with Mumbai Fire Brigade and a recipient of President of India Medal for Gallantry. Dr Rahangdale is an expert on United Nation Disaster Assessment and Coordination which includes Field Coordination Support Section and Emergency Service Branch OCHA- Geneva.
Dr Rahangdale has been awarded with many prestigious medals at various junctures. His major achievements include Fire Service Medal for Gallantry, conferred by the President of India in recognition to display conspicuous gallantry exemplary courage, leadership, professional expertise and devotion to duty of very high order in executing firefighting and rescue operations at serious fire at Fatima Manzil, 4 Musafirkhana road, Mumbai on 3rd November 1999, Awarded with Municipal Commissioner “Silver Medal for Extra-ordinary Bravery” for displaying exemplary courage, sense of duty & devotion in executing the Fire Fighting & Rescue Operation beyond call of duty at serious Fire at Express Towers, Nariman Point, Mumbai on 29th January 1997. He’s awarded with Municipal Commissioner “Silver Medal for Extra-ordinary Bravery” for displaying exemplary courage, sense of duty & devotion in Executing the Rescue Operation beyond call of duty at serious, House Collapse Message at Laxmi-Chhaya, L.T.Road, Babhai Naka, Borivali (W), Mumbai 400092 On 18th June 2017. He also received Commendatory Certificate for Rescue & Firefighting at serious fire at “Oberoi Hotel”, Nariman Point, Mumbai, received commendatory Certificate By Fire Adviser Govt. Of Maharashtra in appreciation to the excellent duty performed during terrorist attack on 26th Nov. And these are just few of his acknowledgements.
Dr Rahangdale participated as a UN Team member representing Govt. Of India for UNDAC Disaster Preparedness Mission, Bhutan from 31 Mar - 11 Apr 2008. He also participated as a UN Team member representing Govt. Of India for UNDAC Disaster Preparedness Mission, Sri Lanka.
Dr Rahangdale has done his B.Sc in Chemistry in the year 1985. His qualifications include G.I.FIRE-E (India) from Institute of Fire Engineers, India, G.I.FIRE –E (U.K) from Institute of Fire Engineers, Walk (U.K), M.I.FIRE-E (U.K) from Institute of Fire Engineers, Walk (U.K), UNDAC (United Nation Disaster Assessment and Coordination Course ) 2006 Asia / Pacific Induction Course, Diploma in Flood Response management from Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency and more.
