  • Received 2 months training in Sheraton hotels in New York /London in 1983
  • GM of Maurya Patna, Mumtaz Hotel Agra, Sindoori hotel Chennai 1996 -1987
  • 1988 to 1992 GM at ITC Bay Island, Port Blair -Pioneered the concept of Sustainable Development through the eco designing methodology without knowing the vocabulary at that point. Addressed the severe resource challenges at ITC Bay Island, Port Blair during my tenure.
  • Travel House in 1992 to 1994 –First travel agency in the world to start afforestation by planting/nurturing 8000 saplings in the Arjungarh Airforce Station, New Delhi
  • Land base India Ltd from 1994 to 1996 handling EHS setting standards for green building when US GBC had not entered India.
  • Headed the Confederation of Indian Industry’s (CII) Renewable Energy Cell for a year during the period 1996 to 1997.
  • With Land base India Ltd post secondment with CII till 2000
  • From 2000 to 2014 GM Environment Initiatives of ITC Hotels
  • Founded iSambhav in 2014 to enhance knowledge in sustainable development with different stake holders
  • Intuitively developed the concept of PPP- People Planet & Profit, migrating from linear production process to green circular economy. Started Compensatory/Depository afforestation in Port Blair- EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility).
  • Internalized environment externality.
  • First hotel in the chain to receive the green award - “British Airways Environment Award of tomorrow” in 1993
  • Wrote a paper for ILO which became their training toolkit for hoteliers across geographies.
  • Invited by Cornell to write paper on eco-tourism in 1996 which they featured in their in-house magazine
  • Contribute articles on green strategies through the FHRAI for Industry since 1994.
  • Started engaging with policy makers to attempt to make bigger changes based on hands down experience from 1988 onwards.
  • Ex faculty of Railway staff college Baroda. Conducted eco sensitization/strategy for 2000 persons consisting of senior /middle/ junior mangers – 31 sessions 1998 to 2002.
  • Developed the eco-rating for schools for the Delhi Government which has been distributed to over 1200 schools, translated into Marathi & further distributed to 6000 schools in Maharashtra
  • 2005 to 2014 started employing PWD (people with disabilities) in ITC hotels with empathy .Two books written on how to employ pwds & how to make the infrastructure barrier free. Both books freely down load from www.itchotels.in
  • On the board of National Trust, Ministry of Social Justice since 2011
  • Part of the expert committee of IICA- Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs, Ministry of Corporate Affairs from 2010 to 2013
  • Member of the CII National Water Committee in 2005/2006. Suggested the formation of the Bureau of Water Efficiency on the lines similar to BEE
  • On the board of Dr Reddy’s Foundation for mainstreaming the lives of people with disabilities & women in India since 2016
  • Recipient of the Helen Keller Award in 2006 & in 2011; Green Hotelier award 2010 & Parivartan Sustainability Leadership Award 2012. IGBC fellow award 2016
  • 2014 December, post retirement from ITC Hotels Ltd, moved to Bangalore & taken the following initiatives since July 15 :
  • Trained more than 650 teachers in 55 schools in Eco Designing Methodology (EDM), including 45 rural schools in understanding the nuances of ecological design: Planet People & Profit.
  • For the 1st time conducted the EDM programme for the hearing and speech impaired in Koppal village and for the visually hearing and speech impaired in Enable India in B ‘lore for 90 persons
  • A humble beginning to fortify the nutritional needs of rural India through BON (Bank of Nutrition) started with help of NGO Samuha in Koppal in Karnataka.
  • Suggested to a supplier to make lap pads (named lap pal) made out of recycled paper with the honeycomb technology to address the ergonomics and to improve handwriting of school children who do not have tables & chairs.
  • iSambhav has made a small attempt to distribute 5500 nos of the above mentioned lap pals to 28 schools in Bangalore, Mysore, Dehradun, Chennai, Koppal and Raichur village schools
  • Currently engaged as a Consultant with Skills Council Green jobs (SCGJ) since September 2016.
